We have had several years of successful experiences working with women-only groups. In the last 3 years, we have delivered programmes to 52 women in groups of 6 all of whom were NEET/disadvantaged,  experienced poor mental health or low self-esteem/confidence, and half of were in the 16-24 age bracket.

After the programme ended,  18 went on to gain employment, 12 began volunteering, either with us or one of our partners, and 12 went on to further training or education. This shows the real success of our programmes in helping women who are both struggling with their mental health and from disadvantaged backgrounds, to realise their ambitions and make a real difference in their lives.

In addition to this, a group of women previously on the programme have come together to organise and host coffee mornings in our pavilion which is situated on our car park, next to our community donation café.

During the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, we ran more informal support sessions for young women who were at risk or had experienced domestic violence as well as single parents, and those experiencing isolation and post-lockdown anxiety. We hosted socially distant coffee mornings and arts/crafts sessions in person, Zoom/Facetime chatter sessions and created WhatsApp groups where our women could discuss their feelings, support each other and sustain friendships during the long lockdowns.

Our highly trained staff members are on hand to offer advice, mentoring and counselling if needed.
